IGA drops prices on over 3000 essential items amid cost of living crisis

IGA Supermarkets have dropped the prices of over 3000 essential products.

The price drops have come as part of the launch of their new product cycle for their cost-saving initiative Low Prices Every Day.

The Low Prices Every Day initiative means the items are locked at the same price for three months, so customers can be sure these products remain the same price until the end of January 2024.

Kitchen items such as butters, cheeses and rice are set to drop in price as well as bathroom essentials like toothpaste and antiperspirant.

For Aussies with a sweet tooth, the retailer is also slashing the price of some treats such as Sara Lee Bavarian and chocolate varieties such as M&Ms and Maltesers. Click here for the full list of products.

While competing with other retailers such as Aldi, Woolworths and Coles, the grocer has implemented IGA's Price Match program, which matches the lowest regular shelf price of hundreds of essential comparable products every week.

IGA's small stores match the prices of 200 products, medium stores match the prices of 600 items and larger stores match the lowest regular shelf price of over 1,200 items.

With the cost of living crisis hitting Aussies hard, the store also launched Low Prices Locked on a wide range of essential Community Co private label products until early January, available at IGA stores throughout the country.

IGA is not the only retailer slashing prices as of late.

In the last three months, IKEA, Woolworths and Kmart all announced price drops to support consumers while the cost of living soars.

As Christmas gets closer, these price drops aim to ensure that Aussies having to tighten their budgets don't miss out on essentials and day to day items.
