Kmart has announced a price drop for more than 1,000 products across several categories.

The change will be welcome news to shoppers struggling with increasing prices during the cost of living crisis.

The price drops, which are now in place, are permanent and not part of a sale or temporary relief measure.

"I believe that everybody, irrespective of where you live or how much money you earn, should have access to good quality products, and that's what Kmart does best. Now more than ever Australian families are really relying on Kmart, and we want to be there for them as much as we can during these tough times," John Gualtieri, Kmart Chief Executive Officer said.

"Dropping the price of these 1,000 plus products means that our customers can afford the things that they need, but also the things that they deserve, and we are committed to maintaining a relentless focus on keeping costs low for our customers."
