Dad makes public plea nearly two weeks after daughter vanished on jog

It's been almost two weeks since US university student Mollie Tibbetts went missing and her father has issued a desperate plea for anyone with information relating to the case to come forward.

Devastated father Rob Tibbetts made the appeal on Good Morning America on Monday morning US time.

"It doesn't matter what we're going through, we just need people to think — because somebody knows something and they don’t even know it's important," he said.

"We can get Mollie back. We just have to have somebody call [the tip line]."

The 20-year-old, from Brooklyn, Iowa, disappeared after going for an evening jog on Wednesday, July 18, leaving her family and friends distraught.

According to People, authorities have been fielding dozens of tips in regards to Mollie's disappearance.

"What we need is for people to tell their friends and neighbours that if they saw anything that seemed even remotely out of the ordinary to call the authorities and they will run that down," Mr Tibbetts explained.

"The authorities have told us again and again and again that all the similar cases like this are always solved by some tip."

Tibbetts' cousin Emily Heaston wrote on Facebook that her family are "worried sick" and "desperate" to get their loved one home.

“There is no such thing as a silly tip or lead,” Heaston wrote on Saturday.

"We do not want any information or offers of help to slip through the cracks.

"We cannot share Mollie’s image or story too much. Thank you to all of the volunteers and the Brooklyn community for your endless love and support."

Last week, the search led police to a pig farm about 15 minutes drive from where the young woman was last seen.

Tibbett's parents reported her missing on Thursday last week after she didn't turn up for work.

She sent a text message the night she went missing, at about 7 pm, and Jack opened a Snapchat message from her about 10 pm, however it’s unclear when she sent it.

"This is not like her at all," Tibbetts' aunt, Kim Calderwood, told local WOI earlier this week.

"She's a very responsible and conscientious young woman."
