Mira Hirsch has a public service announcement: don't let numbers define you. For a good reason.

The South African blogger posted a photo on social media, exposing how different clothing can be, even when it’s technically the same size.

Hirsch posted a side-by-side photo from the dressing room, wearing two different pairs of pants in the same size from the same store.

“The maroon pair had a label saying ‘New Fit’ and the mint pair had nothing,” Hirsch writes on the post.

“Both were my size yet one pair couldn’t even close and the other pair was a little loose?”

After revealing the startling discrepancy, she explains how she used to dread shopping for this reason, saying when something in her size didn't fit she would let "diet culture kick in, and self loathing take over".

But then, she encourages her 100,000-plus followers to take back their power and “wear whatever size and style you desire… love your skin you’re in.”

“Stop trying to fit into the ‘ideal size’”.

“You look for something in your usual size, it doesn’t fit and you end up leaving the store feeling so s----- about yourself. Letting diet culture kick in, and self-loathing take over. I know I did,” she adds.

Hirsch’s post has already garnered more than 4000 likes and more than 80 comments.

Hirsch told TODAY she never expected her picture to go viral but was pleased her “message of self acceptance” is reaching a larger audience.

"I hope people understand that their worth shouldn't be determined by the size of the clothing that they wear," she said.

"Wear clothes that make you feel amazing and stop caring about the numbers on them!" she added. "Focus on feeling amazing regardless of your size."
