'I didn't mean to cause any trouble': Missing boy found hiding on family's roof

An 11-year-old boy with ADHD was discovered hiding on the roof of his family's home by a local news team as they flew over the house.

Angel Gort had been missing since Tuesday when 7SkyForce HD flew over the Miami home in a bid to capture footage related to the case. Police could be seen searching the area with sniffer dogs just metres below where the boy was hiding.

"We were just kind of searching here waiting for our next hit on this story when we spotted the child," 7SkyForce's Ralph Rayburn told 7News Miami.

"He [was] on the roof of the house."

Rayburn said his team quickly alerted police as to the boy's whereabouts, telling them he appeared to be okay. He was reassured by authorities before coming down from the roof.

"My mum is embarrassed," Angel said.

"I didn't mean to cause any trouble and I didn't mean to waste any of the police officers' time."

He was reported missing by his family around 10am local time on Tuesday when they couldn't find him at home, and was discovered around 12pm on the same day.

Angel said he was upset after a fight with his mother. It's not the first time he's run away, but he said he would think twice before taking off again.

"I was thinking of how hard my mum works to do this, and I just do the most stupidest things sometimes," he said.

"It's very difficult for her and I'm proud of the patience she has for me."

The boy's family told the publication they were relieved he was okay.
