Miss Jamaica hospitalised after plummeting from stage at Miss Universe pageant

A Miss Universe contestant has been hospitalised after falling off the stage in yet another headline-making incident for this year's controversy-plagued competition.

Dr Gabrielle Henry, Miss Universe Jamaica, fell from the main stage during the evening gown round of the preliminary competition in Bangkok, Thailand.

Footage shows her strutting down the runway in a stunning orange gown when she accidentally steps off the edge of the stage and plummets to the ground.

Screams and gasps can be heard coming from the audience as she falls.

Henry was rushed to the Paolo Rangsit in the Thai capital and did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.

"Dr Gabrielle Henry, Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, experienced a fall from the main stage during the evening gown round," a statement from her team reads.

"Medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries; however, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery.

"We kindly ask everyone to stay upbeat, lift her in prayer, and send positive thoughts as she receives the necessary medical care."

Footage from social media also showed the beauty queen being carried away on a stretcher.

Miss Universe 2025 can't seem to stay out of headlines, with incident after incident unfolding since the contestants started arriving in Thailand on November 2.

Three days before the start of the competition, two members of the official judging panel resigned following accusations of the pageant pre-selecting finalists.

Omar Harfouch and Claude Makélélé both separately announced their resignations from the selection committee on Instagram.

Harfouch shared a series of scathing Instagram stories, labelling the pageant a "charade."

He alleged that an "informal jury" – including members with personal relationships to some of the contestants – had been assembled in secret to select the 30 Miss Universe finalists.

Makélélé didn't reveal as much, simply writing: "It is with regret that I must announce that I won't be able to attend the Miss Universe 2025 event due to unforeseen personal reasons," Makélélé said.

The first viral incident came at the very beginning of the competition.

In an event livestreamed on Facebook, Thai Pageant Executive Nawat Itsaraggrisil began accusing Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, of failing to participate in promotional material for the host country in the lead-up to the event.

The verbal onslaught took place at a pre-pageant 'sashing' ceremony in front of all the Miss Universe contestants.

The women did not stand for it, with several getting up and walking out of the ceremony in protest.

The clip went viral and made headlines everywhere, sparking the first of many viral incidents from the event.
