'She said yes': Michael Klim announces engagement to girlfriend of six years Michelle Owen
Michael Klim had extra cause for celebration this Christmas.
The Australian swimming champion, 48, announced his engagement to girlfriend Michelle Owen on Wednesday evening via Instagram.
"SHE SAID YES!" Klim captioned a series of photos of the couple.
"I am a very lucky man to call @michelleowen my fiancée. She is pure heart. Deeply kind. Steady when it mattered most.
"Our relationship was built during real adversity and it never wavered. It makes this moment even sweeter.
"We are incredibly happy and excited to spend our lives together. More adventures. More laughs. More memories as a family."
The gold medallist popped the question at Pt. Leo Estate on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

The photos show Klim down on one knee next to a lake, where the couple had been enjoying a bottle of bubbles.
He declared it was "the perfect place to seal the deal."
Fellow Aussie swimming legends were among those who congratulated Klim and Owen in the comments.
"How beautiful! Congratulations to both of you. Another exciting chapter ahead," Grant Hackett wrote.
"Whoop whoop!! Congrats to you both," Daniel Kowalski said.
Klim's daughter Stella, whom he shares with ex-wife Lindy Klim, also shared her well wishes, writing, "Congratulations!!!! Love you both xxx."
The athlete and Lindy, a former model, were married from 2006-2016 and welcomed three children.
Klim has been with Owen since 2019
