Melania and Barron Trump move into the White House

Melania and Barron Trump have moved into the White House, five months after President Donald Trump took office.

The first family were waiting for Barron, 11, to finish the school year in New York, a decision criticised by many who felt presidential spouses should relocate to Washington immediately.

The First Lady ignored critics, choosing to prioritise what was best for her son.

He'll be the first presidential son to live in the White House since John F. Kennedy Jr, son of President John and Jackie Kennedy in the sixties.

The family had spent the weekend golfing in New Jersey before arriving to their new home. The move has come just in time for President Trump's 71st birthday on June 14.

Melania Trump tweeted her delight at the move, posting a photo of the incredible view across the White House lawn writing, "Looking forward to the memories we'll make in our new home! #Movingday"

Melania and son Barron were seen arriving at Andrews Air Force base in Maryland at the weekend before landing in Washington DC. Upon arrival they walked across the south lawn of the White House stepping off Marine One.

Barron was wearing a t-shirt with 'The Expert' written on it.

His mum and dad walked hand-in-hand next to him and they were closely followed by Melania's parents Viktor and Amalija Knavs who both live in the U.S. with their daughter and grandson, previously at Trump Tower, but return home to Slovenia each year.

The Knavs are expected to spend a lot of time at the White House helping to care for Barron but have no plans at this stage to relocate full time to the capital.

Some New Yorkers are happy to see the back of the Trumps due to to the hefty cost of keeping them save in the Big Apple as well as the traffic problems caused as they made their way around town.

Barron Trump will begin Grade 5 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Maryland in September.
