What we know so far about Melania Trump's memoir

Melania Trump has remained an elusive figure throughout husband Donald Trump's flamboyant career, divisive presidency and current campaign run as the Republican nominee.

The former model and US first lady has remained selective about her public appearances, refusing to bow to public pressure to be by her husband's side at every moment, and she is fiercely protective of their son Barron, 18.

Now Melania, 54, is sharing her story in her own words in her memoir simply titled Melania.

The publisher describes the book as a "compelling and inspirational memoir that offers a glimpse into the life of a remarkable woman who has navigated challenges with grace and determination."

"In her memoir, Melania reflects on her Slovenian childhood, the pivotal moments that led her to the world of high fashion in Europe and New York, and the serendipitous meeting with Donald Trump, a chance encounter that forever changed the course of her life," their website describes.

"Melania opens up about their courtship, life in the spotlight, and experiencing the joy of motherhood."

"She shares behind-the-scenes stories from her time in the White House, shedding light on her advocacy work and the causes close to her heart," the publisher continues.

"Melania offers an unprecedented look into her time as a First Lady who was born outside the United States - a role she embraced with honor and dedication," the publisher continues.

"It brings readers into her world and presents an in-depth account of a woman who has led a remarkable life on her own terms.

"Melania Trump's story is one of resilience and independence, showcasing her strength and unwavering commitment to her true self."

Melania has promoted her book on social media, saying: "May your experience reading my book be as enjoyable as the writing process was for me."

In a subsequent post the former first lady said: "Our lives are shaped by our experiences, challenges, and achievements. For the first time, I share my journey with you, in my new memoir, Melania."

An earlier post said: "As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts.

"I believe it is important to share my perspective, the truth."

The book is available for preorder now and will be released on October 8 by Skyhorse Publishing.
