Melania Trump 'will be right there' for Donald if he runs for president again, despite reports she 'despises' him

Although Melania Trump reportedly "despises" her husband, it's understood she'll still support Donald Trump's potential 2024 bid for the White House, albeit begrudgingly.

Despite previous reports Melania has "zero desire" for a second term as First Lady nor assisting the former president in his campaign, according to sources close to the Trumps, Melania would support her husband if he ran for the presidency again.

"If [Trump] runs, she will be right there. She's not going to have her own rallies," an adviser told Politico. "But did she ever?"

The Trumps have been living in Mar-a-Lago since US President Joe Biden's move to the White House in January, and sources close to the family say Melania could impact her husband's decision to run for office again.

"The only thing that Trump cares about these days is golf and Melania. And if she doesn't want him to run, then it's going to be pushing a big rock up the hill," a source close to Trump told Politico.

It's no secret Melania did not like her time in the White House — in fact, former White House aide Stephanie Grisham describes Melania as "Dismissive. Defeated. Detached" like "the doomed French queen" Marie Antoinette in her upcoming book, I'll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the Trump White House.

Grisham, in between a nine-month stint as Trump's press secretary, was Melania's chief of staff.

She claims Melania didn't even stay awake the night of the 2020 election.

"I knocked a few times, quietly at first but louder at each attempt," Grisham writes, saying that at this time, Trump was fretting over network coverage and vote counting with his advisors.

"I finally opened the bedroom door only to find that Melania Trump was sound asleep."

According to Grisham, she was surprised Melania went to bed despite already knowing "how much sleep meant to her."

"I couldn't imagine being asleep at a time like that. Maybe she thought that someone would wake her up if Trump won," she writes.

Melania released a statement to Politico denouncing Grisham's book.

"The intent behind this book is obvious. It is an attempt to redeem herself after a poor performance as press secretary, failed personal relationships, and unprofessional behaviour in the White House," part of the statement reads.

"Through mistruth and betrayal, she seeks to gain relevance and money at the expense of Mrs Trump."
