Meghan Markle's next 'money spinning' move, according to royal author

Speculation over Meghan Markle's next career move has reached a peak after the Duchess of Sussex joined husband Prince Harry at the Invictus Games this month, enthusiastically engaging with competitors and fans.

One person who thinks they know exactly what the Duchess of Sussex is up to is royal author Tom Bower.

"My information is that she is writing her memoirs and it will be a huge money-spinner," he told Dan Wootton on GB News.

Prince Harry's memoir Spare has already reportedly left the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's relationship with the Royal Family in tatters.

Meghan, 42, retired from acting ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. At the time she was starring on TV series Suits and running a lifestyle blog called The Tig.

It was in 2020 that Harry and Meghan announced they would be resigning as senior working royals and moving to the US where they would set up their own venture: Archewell.

The couple signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify, with their Netflix deal seeing them release a docu-series during which they discussed their time working with the monarchy.

Their Spotify deal, however, wasn't as successful, with Meghan's podcast Archetypes ending after just one season.

Prince Harry's memoir Spare was released in January 2023 and caused shockwaves, with the royal detailing conflicts from within the family including Meghan's clash with the Princess of Wales over Princess Charlotte's flower girl dress ahead of their nuptials.

While Meghan has discussed this and other incidents during their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview and in their Netflix release Harry & Meghan, a book could give her scope to go into even more details about her version of events.

This could also include her account on how her relationship with her father Thomas Markle Sr and other family members broke down.

Meghan and her dad haven't spoken since 2018, with Thomas, 79, labelling his daughter "cruel" for not allowing him to meet his grandchildren Archie, four, and Lilibet, two.

He told Good Morning Britain he hasn't heard from his daughter, even after he suffered a stroke in 2022.

"I haven't seen Meghan and Harry in five years and the last time I spoke with him I was on a hospital bed before the wedding," he said.

He added that he's "very upset" at not being a part of his daughter's and grandchildren's lives.

"I'm very upset, this is a cruel thing to do to a grandparent, not just to me but to the King of England as well," he said.

It is understood King Charles met Archie several times while the couple were still in the UK but has only met Lilibet once.
