Man buying phone online attacks woman for not giving out her address

Ashley Kent

A woman has shared screenshots of a terrifying exchange between her and a man she was selling an iPhone to, where he demands her address promising he “won’t rape her”.

In the exchange the woman, who is selling her phone through Facebook, tells the man she will meet him at a local Starbucks rather than her house. He then questions why that, as “a nice guy”, she refuses to give out her address.

“Starbucks would be great! I don’t usually give out my address,” wrote the woman to which the man responded: “Lol because you’re a woman?? Lol”

She then explains – rightfully so – that she doesn’t want strangers coming to her house and asks what time would be best to meet at Starbucks.

“TBH it’s so silly the way you women are about men,” the unnamed man writes.

“There’s no reason to be scared of men and avoid giving out your address. You can trust me, I’m a nice guy.”

SURE.

The woman goes on to patiently explain that it isn’t personal, she just will not give out her address to strangers – men or women. This makes the man explode into a rant, leaving the woman questioning whether she is being trolled or whether this was, in fact, real.

“Just ridiculous the way things have become. The whole feminist movement has really made men the ‘bad guys’ when in reality it’s the woman that is fearing nothing [sic],” he writes.

He then claims that women don’t experience the harassment they claim to and that “it’s all BS to make me look bad”.

Once the woman presses him to cut the rant, and asks him one last time whether he would like to purchase the phone, the conversation takes a turn. He asks the woman if she has a boyfriend before telling her she is “cute”.

When she fails to reply, the man’s comments intensify as he accuses her of “attracting bad energy” by fearing men.

“Let me come over and you’ll see I won’t rape you,” he chillingly writes.

He then rants about how he believes that sexual assault isn’t an issue and it rarely happens, before claiming that if she saw him she “would want to be raped”.

The sickening messages were posted on Reddit, on two separate threads by the user, MsAmberJade. One Sub Reddit called ‘Cringepics’ and the other called ‘Nice guys’ and attracted a barrage of comments urging the woman to report the man to the police.

Absolutely shocking behaviour.
