Couple reunited with lost wedding ring after eight years

Losing your wedding ring is the worst feeling. Having to tell your spouse is even worse.

When Shawn Howard lost his wedding ring while deer hunting in Brighton in the UK eight years ago, he thought it was gone for good. He went home and told his wife Theresa that the gold band engraved with the date of their wedding - October 21, 2001 - was gone.

Eventually, they forgot all about it. Until Saturday that is, when it was found by a moose hunter who shared the find on Facebook.

Shawn contacted the man and he and his wife retrieved the ring.

They have shared their gratitude to the hunter who took the trouble to find it's owner.

"Lost my wedding ring YEARS ago while deer hunting. Got it back today," Shawn later announced in a Facebook post that has since been liked over 250 times.

The inscription is still visible and the ring is back with it's owner just in time for the couple's 19th anniversary.

"To actually take the time to put it on social media and say 'Here's this ring. Does it belong to anybody?' And then to take the time while he's moose hunting to stop and meet up with me so I can get it from him? That's very kind of him," the grateful man told WABI. "It is a wedding ring. It certainly is something that you treasure and it's nice to have it back."

Theresa said she was "in tears" when it was found.

"I was just grateful that [the man] found it," she said. "Then he took the time, which was awesome."
