No-one ever wants to find their wedding ring at the bottom of a toilet.

But Sheila Hatfield in Colorado appeared to be thrilled by that very fact.

That’s because after 11 years of searching for her missing one-of-a-kind ring, she finally found it.

The mother-of-two said she “was in tears for a lot of nights” after her unique piece of jewellery went missing in 2006.

"We spent a lot of time picking out rings we thought were special for each other," Sheila told Denver news station KDVR.

Desperate to find her rock, husband Larry even put cameras into vents around the house in case the ring had dropped into them, she said.

Devastated, she even sought the help of psychics but none of it worked and the mother-of-two resigned herself to the fact her ring was gone forever.

Then came the family’s renovations and as Kiara, now a teenager, moved the toilet in the garage, she saw something fall out.

Initially, she thought it was a washer but Sheila knew exactly what it was - despite the crusty calcium deposits.

And after getting the ring cleaned, it’s as good as new and back on Sheila’s finger.

“I hope it was in the tank and not in the bottom,” she laughed.
