Basketballer Liz Cambage dedicates her record-breaking game to her "mumma"

Aussie basketballer Liz Cambage has dedicated her record-smashing performance in the US women’s league this week to her “mumma” back home.
 
Playing against New York Liberty on Tuesday, the 26-year-old sunk an incredible 53 points for the Dallas Wings - the highest single-game score by any player in the WNBA.
 
Reflecting on the huge public response to her history-making moment, Cambage, who signed a multi-year contract with her US team in February, shared her gratitude on Instagram.
 
“Thank you all for the love today. Shout out to my @dallaswings fam for always having my back and lifting me up after a rough week,” she wrote.

"I hated it and it took me a while to start loving it."

Cambage was also fond of sleeping in and didn't love the prospect of having to get up and hit the court, but she did it to keep her mum happy.

"I'm pretty sure after my first session I ran back to bed. But I'm happy Mum kept making me do it," she added.
 
Things finally clicked into place for the future Olympian after she scored her first goal, and the rest is history.
 
“Mum gave me 10 bucks and took me to the movies. I thought, ‘This is good, I'll keep going'," she added.

Just another instance of mums knowing best.
