The $129 Kmart buy that has every piece of luggage you'll ever need

When you find the right luggage travelling becomes just that little bit less stressful and more enjoyable.

There are plenty of options to choose from with a range of colours, hard or soft shells, wheels, locks and compartments.

But often you don't just need one bag; there's the carry-on size, as well as medium and large suitcases, toiletry bag and a duffle bag.

Instead of buying them all separately you can get those five pieces in the one handy, matching beige set for just $129 at Kmart.

Nine.com.au Travel editor Kristine Tarbert has used many suitcases and bags in her countless travels for both work and pleasure and is impressed by the beige luggage set.

"$129 for the five piece set is insanely good value," she says.

The 70cm hard case has a capacity of 103L and can hold a maximum of 20kg weight – perfect for all those souvenirs, while the 60cm hard case has a 67L capacity and holds a maximum of 15kg and the 50cm hard case has a 40L capacity and can hold a maximum of 9kg.

The 50cm hard case is also compatible with the carry-on requirements of most airlines.

As for the other bags in the set, the toiletry bag is 15cm high, 33cm wide and 13cm deep and the travel duffle bag is 41cm high, 45cm wide and 21cm deep when expanded.

The suitcases in this set also fit Tarbert's criteria for picking a suitcase, with four spinner wheels and light product weight, with the largest case just 3.8kg.

"When it comes to picking a suitcase there are two main things I always look for; how light is it without anything inside, and how easy do the wheels manoeuvre," she says.

"These days a four-wheel suitcase is an absolute must. If you're still dragging around a suitcase with two wheels, please it's time to upgrade."

If beige isn't your colour there is also a lilac set which comes with four pieces for $149. It includes a 70cm hard case, a 46cm hard case, a tote bag and a waist bag.

For those looking for a suitcase on its own, there are some incredible new options to choose from and all are hard cases, which is what Tarbert, who has travelled with Kmart suitcases herself, prefers.

"Personally I prefer a hard-shell as it tends to hold its form better. I've travelled with a few fragile items over the years and never had an issue when it's packed in a case with a hard shell," she explains.

Other products include the Albany range of suitcases, which start at $65 for a 47cm hard case and have four spinner wheels.

The 47cm Albany hard case comes in green, graphite and blush colours, weighs just 2.7kg and has a maximum weight capacity of 9kg.

It also has a lockable zip on the main compartment, a TSA approved lock and is compatible for most airlines carry-on requirements.

Also in green, graphite and blush colours is the 71cm Albany hard case, which features an expandable main compartment. It weighs 4.7kg and has a maximum weight capacity of 20kg.

If you want something in between a carry-on and a large suitcase, the Albany range includes the 61cm hard case in graphite only. This suitcase weights 3.7kg and can hold 15kg. Like the 71cm case, it also has an expandable main compartment.

There is also the option of getting matching carry-on and check-in suitcases with the two-piece clamshell hard case set in either white, silver or blue for $109.

They have a sleek, polished look with eight spinner wheels, expandable main compartments, fully lined interiors, lockable main compartment zips and a TSA approved lock.
