Kmart's viral digital family calendar is about to be restocked across the country, after the popular item sold out almost immediately as a limited release during the Black Friday sales.

The item, which costs $229, is a 15 inch digital calendar that connects to Wi-Fi and can import events from Apple, Android and Google Calendar.

Kmart also offers the smaller version, a 10-inch calendar, for $169.

Similar items have exploded in popularity since the launch of the Skylight Calendar, which costs $530.

Of course, not everyone can afford to spend $530 on a calendar, so affordable options soon hit the market including Amazon's Dragon Touch 10.1 inch digital calendar for $260, and Kmart's viral 15.6 inch digital family calendar.

The alternative calendar immediately went viral on social media, selling out across Kmart stores both online and in person.

This week the retailer teased the product's return with a post on its Facebook group Kmart Buzz.

"Can you guess what's coming back soon, Buzzers? Drop it in the comments below," the post reads.

The post featured a video of a blurred item, which looks to be the digital calendar.

Shoppers took to the comments to express their excitement for the product's return.

"Omg can't wait for this I missed out on the Black Friday sale!" one person wrote.

"Finally, the digital family calendar. I have been waiting," another said.

It's not supposed to make a full comeback to stores yet, but one lucky shopper managed to snag the 10 inch calendar at a Kmart in Eastland's shopping centre in Victoria, which seems to have already stocked its shelves.

The user posted the find to the Kmart Hacks and Décor page, writing, "Look what's back in stock."

Another Facebook user asked if the store had more than one, with the shopper replying that there were more than 10.

Kmart confirmed to nine.com.au that the product is now back in stock.

"We're thrilled to announce that the viral 15.6‑inch Digital Family Planner is officially back in stock this week," a spokesperson for the brand said.

"After an overwhelming response from customers last year, we've worked hard to bring it back and this time, we're also introducing a brand‑new, smaller 10.1‑inch version for those wanting the same smart organisation tools in a more compact, affordable size."
