UK TV presenter Kate Garraway revealed her two children have finally been able to see their father in hospital, for the first time since March.

Garraway's husband Derek Draper, 53, who was hospitalised last year with coronavirus and almost died multiple times, became the 'UK's longest-fighting COVID-19 patient' in September.

The Good Morning Britain co-host said on Thursday's show the couple's daughter Darcey, 14, and son Billy, 11, got to see their dad over Christmas.

"And of course it was very heightened with emotion because he has so changed. It kind of amplified how very sad it was and how different it is."

The family got to see Draper just in time, with the latest UK lockdown announced days after the New Year and set to last at least until mid-February.

"Instantly now, I'm in a position now where I can't see him," Garraway said.

"We're into lockdown now so no visits at all and that will be very impactful on a lot of people. It's tough on lots of people."

It's not the first time the couple will be kept apart for weeks and months-on-end, even celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary separately in September.

Garraway was only able to visit Draper for the first time in July — four months after he was admitted into hospital and shortly after he came out of a coma.

"We're keeping positive and doing everything we can to bring him round," Garraway told HELLO! magazine at the time.

"The children and I communicate with him every day on FaceTime, while a nurse holds his iPad."
