From dating in private to an Australian Open hard-launch: Jason Kubler and Maddison Inglis' swoon-worthy love story

Power couple Jason Kubler and Maddison Inglis are taking the 2026 Australian Open by storm.

The Aussie tennis stars, who are engaged, have both won every one of their respective matches at the tournament so far.

Yesterday, Inglis beat Germany's Laura Siegemund in the Women's Singles, while Kubler and his doubles partner Marc Polmans won their doubles match against fellow Aussies Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Post-match, the pair gushed about each other and even joked their AO winnings would go towards their upcoming wedding.

But long before Kubler and Inglis were publicly talking about each other post-match in Melbourne, they were dating in secret.

The couple's love story began as they travelled in the same tennis circles for years, frequently crossing paths.

Things turned romantic in 2020, but the athletes kept their relationship very private.

They spent the start of the COVID-19 lockdown together in Perth with Inglis' family.

Between 2020 and 2022, the pair avoided posting about each other on their social media to keep their relationship private.

In January 2023, Kubler and Inglis hard-launched their relationship at the Australian Open when they played a mixed doubles match together.

They were also seen supporting each other from the player's boxes during their respective singles matches, confirming their relationship status.

In 2024, Kubler hit a rough patch in his career after he was injured, meaning he was sidelined from matches for 10 months.

During this period, Inglis was his support system, bringing the pair closer together.

When he made his return to the court at the Brisbane Pro Tour in November 2024, Inglis was there cheering him on as he tried to regain his ranking.

The couple's relationship hit a professional peak when they both reached the second round of qualifying in Paris on the same day, which happened to fall on Kubler's birthday.

After five years of dating, the couple got engaged in December 2025 while on a trip to Rottnest Island.

Kubler said he was "super excited" before he popped the question.

"I didn't anticipate the hour leading up. I was so nervous. That was crazy. Felt like we were on a first date again," the athlete said at the time.

"Very happy I did it. Very happy Maddy said yes, which is good."

Inglis posted about the engagement on her Instagram with the caption: "Our first time to Rotto was pretty special."

Just weeks after the engagment they represented Team Australia together, with their teammates jokingly teasing the couple.

The pair have continued to publicly support each other's careers, including recently when each of them qualified for the Australian Open 2026.

Inglis qualified just a few hours after her finance, but Kubler said her qualifying for the open meant more to him than his own win.

"To see her get over the hump and qualify – it's just so cool," he said in a post-match interview.

"I would actually say I felt happier watching her do that than I did at the end of my match."
