NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's classy response to woman who said she'd 'aged' in online chat

Jacinda Ardern has yet again proved she is the classiest politician on both sides of the Tasman after her diplomatic response to a rude Facebook troll.

The New Zealand Prime Minister, 41, was hosting a live discussion on social media to answer questions from Kiwi citizens about the government's response to Omicron when she received a nasty comment.

During the serious chat, Ardern was taken aback to see a woman named Amanda had left a message about the politician's appearance.

"Amanda thinks I've aged," Ardern said during the live chat. "Merry Christmas to you too, Amanda."

Ardern's classy response received a swift show of support from fellow Facebook viewers, who quickly blasted the woman for her rude message.

'Amanda, did you get that personal message? Because Jacinda was far more polite than I was when I read your note. You get more from honey than from vinegar,' one person responded. 

"It's not often we see you without make-up. You really are beautiful," another wrote.

Ardern then continued answering questions from concerned NZ citizens and faced a grilling over her plans on how to reunite families amid the coronavirus border closures.

It is the second time the Prime Minister has faced an unusual interruption during one of her live Facebook broadcasts, after Ardern's daughter Neve, three, disrupted her during a late-night discussion.

"You're meant to be in bed darling," Ardern said to the little girl. "It's bedtime darling, pop back to bed, I'll come and see you in a second. I'll come and see you in a minute, OK? Nanny will take you down to bed."

Ardern's mother then took Neve back to bed before the PM apologised for the "bedtime fail".

"Sorry everyone, I thought 'Here's a moment, I'll do a Facebook Live, we're nice and safe," she says. "Does anyone else have kids who escape three or four times after bedtime?"
