Ivanka Trump taunted over innocent wardrobe mistake

Ivanka Trump has been attacked over an innocent wardrobe malfunction while attending the General Assembly in New York with her father, US President Donald Trump.

The First Daughter was at the assembly talking about how to economically empower women, continuing her work for women during her father's time in the White House.

Her visit was highlighted on her official Instagram account, with the caption: "3 Pillars are seeking to economically empower women to re-invest in their families & communities, producing a multiplier effect that spurs economic growth + contributes to global peace & stability. Thank you to @concordiasummit for the opportunity and collaboration on this critical mission."

However, Twitter users chose to highlight her wardrobe malfunction instead. Ivanka, 37, was wearing a thin blue blouse with a patterned Prada skirt, her nipples clearly visible through the blouse.

It didn't take long for social media users to begin cruelly taunting the mother-of-three.

"Ivanka working overtime on the stripper pole," wrote one Twitter user.

"Well this is an unusually 'pointed' message from the usually ambiguous Ivanka," commented another.

"I don't know whether to look up, down or not at all."

The incident comes just a few months after something similar happened to Ivanka's stepmother Melania Trump, who was caught in the rain on July 4 while wearing a white Caroline Herrera dress with striped detailing while on stage with President Trump.

Within seconds photos were published showing Melania's nipples visible through the fabric.

Twitter users were equally as cruel, with some labelling the moment a "wet t-shirt contest".

"Braless? In a white dress? In the rain? Who thought this was a good idea?" one user asked.

"Today's Wet T-shirt winner is Melania," another said.

"The first Fourth of July wet T-Shirt contest on the Mall. And the winner is: Melania Trump," a third wrote.

She was standing in the rain for crying out loud!

It may have been that Ivanka an Melania weren't wearing bras with their outfits, or the bras they chose were also sheer.

Regardless, the incidents say more about the people doing the taunting than it does about the Trump women.

A wardrobe malfunction isn't reason to shame women. In fact, it's sexist and offensive and goes against everything we are trying to achieve – true gender equality.

If we can see men's nipples through their white business shirt – braless no less – then what's the big deal about women's nipples being visible?

While Ivanka may have a quiet word with her staff and gently remind them to let her know when she's about to take attention away from her important work, it's annoying that she even has to.

They're just breasts! They're just nipples! Big deal!

Those sniggering while making fun of her on Twitter have been handed a perfect opportunity to highlight her work at the assembly for all of the wrong reasons. They are the ones who should feel embarrassed and ashamed. All I can say to them is: Grow the hell up.

And, to Ivanka: We've all been there girl! We've got your back.

Also, President Trump is a 'nipple shamer' with the best of them, having criticised former US politician Barney Frank whose nipples were visible while giving evidence before congress in 2011.

The US President lcalled it "disrespectful", however as with my defence of his daughter and his wife, an innocent mistake can hardly be called "disrespectful".

And again, THEY'RE JUST NIPPLES! We all have them!
