Ivanka Trump has joined the chorus of people praising Oprah Winfrey for her powerful Golden Globes acceptance speech.

However, the First Daughter’s endorsement hasn’t gone down too well, to put it mildly.

Accepting her lifetime achievement award on Sunday, Winfrey delivered a rallying cry for race and gender equality, calling for an end to “a culture broken by brutally powerful men”.

She also referenced the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement against sexual assault and harassment, a theme that underpinned much of this year’s Golden Globes.

"For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare speak the truth to the power of those men," the veteran TV host and actress said.

“I want all the girls watching here, now, to know that a new day is on the horizon … [a] time when nobody ever has to say 'Me too' again.”

Many seized the opportunity to highlight Ivanka’s father has himself been the subject of multiple sexual misconduct allegations.

“Uh... Ivanka... you do know Oprah was criticizing your dad, right?” one wrote.

“Honey are you serious? #TIMESUP is about your father and all the men like him. You get that right?” another tweeted.

Winfrey didn’t mention Trump by name during her speech, but she did express her admiration of women who have spoken out against men who’ve abused and harassed them.

She also spoke of the important of a free press that is currently “under siege”.

“[I]t's the insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye to corruption and to injustice. To tyrants and victims, and secrets and lies,” she said.
