Blogger photoshops her body into different ‘beauty ideals’ over time

Standards of beauty are constantly changing.

Fitness blogger Casey Ho reminded her followers of this by posting a series of photos where she edits her body to the "ideal" of each time period throughout history.

Posted on her Instagram November 28, the gallery features six different demonstrations of female beauty standards over time.

The first, in 2018, shows Ho with a small waist and a big derriere, a la Kim Kardashian. In the mid-2000s, Ho has long legs and a big bust like a Victoria's Secret Model and in the 90s, she's rake thin.

The Blogilates founder then demonstrates the Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe's 1950s hourglass figure, then the "boyish" look of the 30s, ending with the fuller figure of the Italian renaissance.

"Why do we treat our bodies like we treat fashion?" Ho wrote in the post.

"'Boobs are out! Butts are in!' Well, the reality is, manufacturing our bodies is a lot more dangerous than manufacturing clothes. Stop throwing your body out like it's fast fashion."

The post got over 176,000 likes and drew the attention of America's TODAY Show, which had her on as a guest.

"I find it disturbing that an aspect of a woman's body can be deemed hideous in one era and then glorified in the next!" she told the program.

"The fact that women fall prey to these changing beauty standards and try to change their bodies to suit those ideals is something I've always wanted to bring attention to and discuss."

Ho has long been a champion of body positivity and diversity. In 2015, a video of her photoshopping herself in real-time went viral.
