New year, new me, and (we wish) new wardrobe.

There's something about the new year that makes you want to reinvent yourself.

It might be that fresh feeling of a new beginning, or maybe it's the socially constructed idea that each new year we need to come up with resolutions to better ourselves rather than just changing things as it feels necessary.

Whatever it is, we feel it in our bones.

It seems to be that as a society we think that one of the easiest ways to reinvent ourselves is to start with our wardrobe.

In theory, yes, it seems like a great idea, we all have a myriad of clothes we simply never wear anymore.

But when it comes time to open the closet and start putting things in bags to go to charity, it becomes almost impossible.

Whatever reason you have for avoiding decluttering your wardrobe, we've found the perfect hack to change your life.

Instagram user Jenessa has shared her genius method that helps her clean out her wardrobe.

Now, Janessa says she does this once a year, but if you want to get really brutal and start culling last season's items, you could even do it every three or six months.

Basically, at the start of the year, Janessa will put all her clothes on hangers, but backwards, so that the hook of the hanger is going under the railing rather than over.

Then, as she wears them and puts them away, the hanger is flipped back to the right way around.

At the end of the year, anything on a backwards hanger gets the cut, making plenty of room to do some shopping and reinvent yourself in the way of fashion.
