Woman's shock shower 'epiphany': 'Is anyone else surprised by this?'

A woman has made a shock realisation about her showering habits after a conversation with her mum, sparking a debate about the 'correct' way to shower each day.

TikToker Lovey Lee, whose real name is Alexandria, has shared a video which has since been viewed 4.8 million times by equally shocked followers.

"I've just been informed by my mum that there are two ways people shower and we just realised that we both do the opposite thing," the American woman explained.

"So when I shower the shower head is behind me, so the water is like on my hair and down my back.

"Of course I'll turn around occasionally and, like, move around, but she shower's primarily facing the shower head so the water hits her in the face and down her body."

Alexandria said her mum is "shocked" to hear her daughter faces away from the shower head and vice versa.

"I feel like the normal way to shower is with the shower head behind you and you're facing that way," she added, before asking: "Is anyone else surprised by this?"

She explained the conversation with her mum started when Alexandria asked her for advice on redoing their shower.

She asked where the shower bench should go, and her mum asked: "Don't you want the shower bench behind you so you can put your leg up while you're showering?"

This is when Alexandria realised they were facing opposite directions while showering.

She said she's now having an "epiphany" about her own showering method and she's not the only one, with her post clocking up 18.6 thousand comments.

While most comments passionately defend facing towards or away from the shower head, some describe a different method altogether.

"I rotate continuously like a kebab," one explained.

Another joked: "People who face the shower... yall okay?"

"Who the hell faces the water," one TikToker commented.

"Wait people are not facing the water?" another questioned.

"I just asked my fiancé and he faces sideways," one TikToker interjected.

"Facing the water is unhinged," another said.

"Back to the water, rotate when needed. There is no other way that makes sense," one TikToker commented.

"If I face the water I'm gonna drown," another said.
