The $29 Kmart shower caddy plant hack just got even better thanks to new design feature
When Kmart first released the $29 telescopic shower caddy, the intention was that the product would solve a storage issue for people with no niche or shelves in the shower.
While it has helped some with that problem, many customers quickly realised the tension rod-style storage unit actually makes for a brilliant indoor plant stand.
But the silver look of the product hasn't been to everyone's taste leading many to spend time painting it black.

However, the colour of the shower caddy is no longer an issue. That's because as part of its biggest ever new product launch for the August Living catalogue Kmart has released the $29 telescopic shower caddy in black.
While the black version of the product ties in with Kmart's black bathroom storage range, the new colour option makes it easier to use the telescopic shower caddy as a plant stand in rooms outside of the bathroom.

One of the first shoppers to try the shower caddy as a plant stand a year ago showed how well it worked for plants in a photo posted to the Kmart Hacks & Décor Facebook group.
They noted the fact that using this bathroom storage item for plants turns it into a kind of dupe of more expensive tension rod plant hanging poles, which cost as much as $145.
"For all those keen indoor planters, I have been dreaming of a vertical plant pole, but just couldn't justify the $140+ price tag… hello telescopic spring loaded shower caddy. Note to achieve the correct height I used five of the [six] metal sections," they captioned the post.
Reading the reviews of the product on the Kmart website, where it is rated 4.2 stars, it seems the product functions well regardless of whether it's being used for plants or toiletries.
"I put this in the corner of my room to put my plants on, I did attempt to paint it black. So far so good had it up for 6 weeks and it has not yet come down, a woman commented in her review.

"I have a small bathroom and I purchased this caddy to hold some plants in my bathroom. Works great. Thank you," a woman posted.
"We love our shower caddy - it seems to give more room in the shower with keeping things off the shower floor," a customer said.
"I am very pleased with the telescopic shower caddy, which I am using as a plant stand in my kitchen. It is sturdy, and perfect for using in a rental property, to create more plant storage space. Very good value for money," another wrote.
