Ikea's most hackable furniture has been revealed and the top piece has become everything from a kitchen island to a bench
Ikea furniture looks good and functions well as is, but in recent years shoppers have been adding their own spin on these products by "hacking" them.
Hacking a piece of Ikea furniture can involve anything from changing the look with paint or panelling to turning an item into a completely different thing.
Now a study from MoneySuperMarket has revealed the most popular Ikea items being hacked, and the top product has been adapted an incredible 119 ways.

The most hacked Ikea piece is the Kallax shelving unit, which comes in a variety of sizes and formats and can be individualised with drawers, inserts, underframe and even a desk. Prices for this range start at $79 for the 77cm x 77cm shelving unit.
Despite the customisable options in store, shoppers have unleashed their creativity on the Kallax unit and turned it into things like a media console, kitchen island and a bed.

The second most hacked Ikea product comes as no surprise, because it's the iconic Billy bookcase.
According to the study, this piece has been hacked 62 different ways by being turned into things like a bar cabinet, a library wall or just adapted to fit under a sloping ceiling.
The Billy bookcase has also been turned into a sliding laundry storage unit that fits neatly in a small gap between a washing machine and dryer and the wall.

The third most hacked Ikea piece is the Pax wardrobe, which has been adapted 59 times.
Some of these hacks have made the Pax look nicer or suit a person's needs more, while others have added a fold out desk so they can work-from-home.
One person even used Pax to make their own Murphy bed set-up by adding a fold-out bed inside the wardrobe unit.
Other products that made the list include the Besta storage unit, Ivar shelf and the Lack side and coffee tables.
