IKEA launches unique solution to organise the forgotten space 52 per cent of Aussies admit they leave messy

IKEA is famous for storage solutions that help get cluttered homes organised, but there is one space the retailer has left untouched, until now.

With 52 per cent of Aussies admitting they have a messy car boot, IKEA hopes to transform our boots with the launch of a world-first, limited-edition flatpack.

Named KÖR – which means drive in Swedish – the storage unit is a modular system made from recyclable materials, which has six configurations to suit a range of storage needs.

"At IKEA we've been solving storage problems in the home for years, but there was one place left to tackle: the car boot. Here in Australia, we really see the garage and car as an extension of our home, and the car boot so often becomes that hidden space holding life's on-the-go mess. With three in five Aussies admitting they would benefit from a solution to help keep their car boot more organised, we knew IKEA could help," Christine Gough, life at home expert for IKEA Australia, said.

Research commissioned by KIEA also found 79 per cent of Australians leave items in their car boot, with shopping bags the most common item left there.

Wet weather gear, outdoor leisure and kids toys are other items kept in the boot for convenience.

Interestingly, 32 per cent of people said they use the car boot for storage to keep their homes tidier, but 25 per cent rarely or never clean out the space, while 48 per cent declutter it every few months or so.

While the car boot organiser is free, stock is limited and customers will need to register their interest on the IKEA website and then collect from selected stores between October 7 and 13.
