The $19 Ikea kitchen buy that transforms your living room into a cosy, comfy space
The perfect spot to keep your cuppa while relaxing on the sofa is always at the height of your sofa's arm rest, but most don't have an in-built side table.
One woman has found a solution to that problem using a $19 Ikea buy designed for use in the kitchen.
This has saved her the hassle of trying to find a side table at the right height or buying a specially designed sofa arm rest, which can cost anywhere from $20 to $169.

Christina Dennis, known across social media as The DIY Mommy, has turned the Stolthet bamboo chopping board into an instant arm rest tray.
She shared how well the kitchen item works as a side table in a TikTok.
"The STOLTHET cutting board at IKEA is one of my favourite pieces that has so many uses! One of my favourite hacks is using it on the arm of my sofa to rest my coffee mug. It's perfect," she captioned the video.
The best part about the hack is that the space between the raised parts on the bottom of the chopping board fits exactly to the width of Dennis' sofa arm rest.
It also means she didn't have to add or change a single thing on the chopping board to make this hack work.
"This easy Ikea hack changed my mornings forever," she said in the video as she relaxed with a cup of coffee.

DIY blogger Grillo Designs suggested three uses in a blog post, including as a bookstand but also as a laptop stand and a mini-tiered shelf with a small box placed underneath to create a drawer-type feature.
They then revealed another three hacks using the chopping board in a TikTok. The first idea is flipping it on one end and adding non-slip tape to make a cookbook stand.
