Scratched bowl transformed to sparkling white with classic $2.45 cleaning hack
Crockery doesn't have to be replaced when it starts looking worse for wear from metal scratches, scuffs and stains.
Those marks, which are caused by cutlery, can be removed and the dinnerware polished up if you find the right cleaning hack.
While products from TikTok favourite cleaning brands have been known to get the job done, a classic pantry staple does it just as well and for a fraction of the price.

Professional organiser Anita Birges showed how to use bi-carb soda (also known as baking soda) to revive bowls, plates and mugs in an Instagram reel.
"Watch how I take a few of my cups and crockery from stained to sparkling in five minutes. This is what we're dealing with: metal marks, scuffs and stains," she said.
"Grab your bi-carb soda, put it in a small bowl and dampen a microfibre cloth. Dab your cloth into the bicarb soda so it sticks to the cloth. Now rub and scrub away. Continue to do this for about three minutes."
Birges was stunned at the residue on her cloth after cleaning the bowl.

"This cleaning hack also works really well for your reusable coffee cups and your travel mugs."
Once you've scrubbed the crockery, rinse it well and leave to dry.
A before-and-after look at the bowl cleaned with the baking soda compared to items that haven't yet been polished showed how well it worked. The bowl was sparkling white and even looked new again, which means you can keep the dinnerware you already have for longer.

Bi-carb soda can be purchased from Coles or Woolworths for $2.45 for a 500g store branded bag, and given you only need a small amount for the hack this product is extremely budget-friendly.
If you prefer to use a cleaning paste product, others have had success removing scratches from plates and bowls with Bark Keeper's Friend cleanser and polish and The Pink Stuff paste.
