A clever cleaning cloth hack makes them four times better at busting germs and dust
Cleaning cloths seem like a fairly straightforward item to use, but while there's nothing wrong with the scrunch and wipe method, one tweak could make cleaning a whole lot easier.
According to janitor Brandon Pleshek, folding your cleaning cloth a particular way will allow you to get much more use out of it before you need to swap to another one.
In a TikTok video, he demonstrated how this hack is particularly useful for cleaning the toilet.

"I always like to fold my towels in two (in half and then half again). This gives me four different sides that I can clean with. Once one's [side] dirty I can flip it over, have another clean side and continue to wipe down the toilet," he said.
"This is much better than just kind of scrunching the towel together... and wiping it down because you really don't know what's touched what and the towel gets dirty that much faster."
This hack makes cleaning more efficient and effective by ensuring you're wiping with a clean cloth rather than one that is dirty from previous sections.
While Pleshek used this hack for cleaning the toilet, it's noticeably useful when it comes to dusting.
This is because you'll be able to see the cloth turn dark and instead of continuing to wipe with the dirty cloth, if you've folded it you can flip to a clean side.
No one wants to dust more frequently than they have to, so ensuring you pick up every speck of dirt on the cloth by using a clean one is important.

"Always appreciate a way to work efficiently. Smarter not harder and with far less waste," a woman said.
"Thank you! Same method here!" one commented.
"Great idea! Thank you!" another wrote.
Others, meanwhile, pointed out the trick actually allows much more of the cloth to be used than Pleshek said in his TikTok.
"Nope, u have 8 sides," one commented to which the janitor replied, "True! Four sides until you have to refold."
