The Euro-summer inspired $8 Big W dupe saving shoppers $92 on designer buy

Big W has launched a new European summer inspired tableware range that customers have compared to pieces from a pricier design label.

The Openook four-piece side plate set is priced at $8 and features stunning illustrations of seafood. There is a red lobster plate, blue octopus plate, orange crab plate and a green-blue fish plate.

Shopper Joy Tan Pillay raved about the plate set in a TikTok, saying that the tableware reminds her of the $100 essential seafood plate set from In the Roundhouse.

"I just dropped by my local Big W... four plates for $8. They remind me a lot of the In the Roundhouse platters/plates, really similar design, obviously not exactly the same... these are so cute," she said.

"I'm so glad I saw these, man I hope they've got heaps stocked up because I really want to go back and get more of them but yeah, they're so cute. Girls, run to Big W if you're looking for plates like that."

Those who watched Tan Pillay's video loved the look of the plates.

"Oh wow they are so pretty!" a woman said.

"Omg I love them so much I wish I could fit more plates in my house," another wrote.

The side plates and platter were also shared in an Instagram post by Ash from @bargainlifeandstyle where they got plenty of compliments too.

"Those side plates are so cute!" one said.

"Love the sea animal plates and platter and the crepe maker," a woman commented.

"Wow this is so cute!! I am going to go check this out," another posted.

The new tableware range also includes a $12 seafood platter featuring a large red lobster design.

To create the ultimate Euro summer table spread, Big W's styling of the seafood plates and platter (image above) is the perfect inspiration.

The tablescape features a blue and white striped tablecloth for $7 as the base, a large white salad bowl for $8 – which the stylist has added lemons to creating a striking pop of colour contrast, a four pack of swirl tumblers for $8 – with a cute garnish of mint and cucumber and a $16 stainless steel cutlery set.

That whole set up costs just $63, but if you already have cutlery, salad bowls and cutlery that would work with the look you can recreate the tablescape for even less.
