Cleaning is a never-ending task that always needs doing somewhere in the house, and even when you've finished a chore it's not long before things are dirty again.

That's why a lot of us look for hacks and tips to make cleaning quicker and easier, and part of the reason experts recommend cleaning as you go through the day.

It seems a lot of us are on board with the idea of doing a little bit of cleaning every day, with a Nine.com.au reader poll revealing 60 per cent of people surveyed prefer to clean part of the house daily.

While more than half of Aussies surveyed are doing a little cleaning each day, a significant number dedicate a specific day to cleaning the house.

The survey found 34 per cent of readers clean the house all in one day, which is very relatable for anyone who works full-time during the week and dedicates one weekend day to laundry, cleaning the bathroom and vacuuming.

However, some readers revealed they do a mix of cleaning daily and weekly or fortnightly.

"A thorough clean once a week, plus a little bit each day (tidy up, vacuum floors, wipe benches)," one said.

"I do a bit every day and have a clean every fortnight to do it in one day," another wrote.

But for six per cent of readers surveyed, they either outsourced cleaning or do it when they can.

For some that means cleaning when the house "needs" it or "when each bit you see needs cleaning".

Others clean when they can find the time or energy, or do it over two or three days at a time, which is understandable given how tiring and time-consuming cleaning can be.

Doing a little bit of cleaning every day is something recommended by cleaning influencer Kelsey Gent and organising specialist Marla Cilley.

Gent, who shares tips on her Instagram page, along with free daily and weekly cleaning checklists, advocates dedicating a day to each room of the house for cleaning.

For example, she gives bathrooms a thorough clean on Mondays, bedrooms on Tuesdays and so on. That's in addition to daily tasks like packing the dishwasher and making the bed.

Marla Cilley, meanwhile, created the FlyLady cleaning method, which focuses on one room a week by dedicating 15 minutes a day to cleaning it, in addition to smaller daily tasks.

Cilley also has resources on her website to help manage cleaning for anyone who finds it overwhelming and wants advice.

But ultimately, cleaning the house whatever way works for you is always the best approach, and if tips and hacks make it easier, that's OK too.
