Hero groom saves boy from drowning

A wedding shoot in Canada took a dramatic turn when the groom jumped into a river to save a boy from drowning.

Clayton and Brittany Cook were having photos taken on a park bridge in Ontario when the groom saw the child struggling to stay afloat.

He jumped in, lifted the boy onto the shore, climbed back up in his now-drenched suit and resumed taking photos.

"For several minutes these kids were following us, and I was just keeping an eye on them because they were standing close to the water," he told BBC.

"His face was under water and he was fighting, like he was really fighting," he told CTV News.

"Luckily, he was only a little guy and I sort of hopped him up."

The incredible images, which have been shared by wedding photographers Hatt Photography, have since gone viral.

Darren Hatt took the photos of the dramatic rescue.

"While I was taking solo pictures of the bride this little guy was pushed into the river behind me by another child," he told Daily Mail.

"By the time the bride noticed and shouted out, Clayton had already jumped down and brought him to safety.

"His quick action saved the little guy who was struggling to swim."

It took new wife Brittany said at first she thought Clayton had jumped into the river as a joke.

"I looked over and I see Clay in the water and I think, what is he doing," she told CCTV.

"That's Clay, like that's Clay to me. It's something he would just instinctively do."

Brittany and Clayton Cook had been together for seven years before tying the knot. They met in college in Canada.

Brittany works as a teacher as well as online beauty outlet Jamberry.

The ceremony took place at Victoria Park Pavillion on Friday 22 September at 7.30pm in front of close family and friends followed by a larger wedding party.
