Love Stories: How Heidi Klum's third husband Tom Kaulitz changed her mind about marriage

Heidi Klum is one of the world's top supermodels, whose love life has made headlines alongside her incredible career achievements.

The Victoria's Secret Angel, now 51, is this year celebrating five years of marriage to her German rocker husband, Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz, 34.

They reportedly legally married in early 2019, before having a wedding ceremony in the idyllic Italy in August that year. It's the third marriage for the German-American model, with her ex-husbands being the iconic singer Seal and stylist Ric Pipino.

This week, mother-of-four Klum appeared to mark the anniversary by sharing a series of loved-up beach snaps of the pair together and writing: "I could not ask for a better one ❤️ Ich Liebe Dich Tom [I love you]."

Despite their 17-year age gap, which Klum has said she pays no attention to, it appears the America's Got Talent judge has finally found her one true love, recently referring to rocker Kaulitz as the "love of my life".

Before meeting Kaulitz, having said on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that they met at a mutual friend's birthday party and was "immediately attracted" to him, she dated art curator Vito Schnabel, 38.

It seems it was Kaulitz who changed her mind about marriage, the model having two divorces under her belt when they met. Kaulitz, who is a twin, was also previously married to Ria Sommerfeld.

Back in 2016, while with Schnabel, Klum told People: "I've done it twice and it didn't really work out for me, so why hurt something when it's all good the way it is."

"I love being in love, like when you have butterflies in your stomach and when you feel great. I celebrate all the romance – I'm quite old-fashioned that way."

She and Kaulitz, who were were first linked back in 2018, announced their engagement on December 25, 2018.

"I SAID YES," Klum captioned a black and white snap of the pair while showing off her engagement ring following their whirlwind romance.

They held a wedding in Capri in August 2019 after legally marrying earlier that year.

In 2018, she gushed to People about her man and said they get along so well as they have the same background.

"He is absolutely wonderful. Maybe it is because he is German and we understand each other in a different way," she told the publication.

She previously defended their age-gap romance when replying to an Instagram follower during a Q&A.

"Don't you feel that you're in the age of Tom's mum or age really doesn't matter?" she was asked.

Klum replied: "I honestly only feel that way when people point it out to me."

She also previously told InStyle: "Lately, I'm being reminded more about my age by people other than myself."

"My boyfriend is many years younger than me, and lots of people are questioning that and asking about it."
