He Said She Said: Ben Fordham's surprising admission about male friendship
A conversation about workplace nicknames has evolved into one about how men have progressed when it comes to how they greet each other, with Ben Fordham admitting he wouldn't be upset to be referred to as "gurlfriend!!!" or to receive a "kiss on the cheek" from a mate.
Fordham has shared his thoughts on his evolution on the latest episode of 9Honey's 'He Said She Said' with Shelly Horton.
It was while answering a viewer question that Fordham shared his views.

The female viewer, Shauna, had taken issue with a male colleague calling her 'bruv' at work.
"Now I think that's the British thing like 'bruva' or 'bruv,'" Horton explained.

Shauna said she doesn't understand being addressed as 'bruv' as she is a woman and she "doesn't really like it."
She asks: "Is there something that should be done about them calling me 'bruv?'"

Fordham felt the solution was pretty simple. He said Shauna just has to tell their colleague they don't like being called 'bruv.'

"All it is is someone connecting with you at work Shauna, and this is the way they've found to try and make a connection," Horton continued. "It's a nickname. It's why when we go into a relationship we'll often find cute little nicknames to call our plus one."
He said it's a "sign of affection" and "respect."
Talk soon turned to the issue of gender when it comes to such interactions, with Fordham explaining how men have gone from the 'man hug' to kisses on the cheek and he for one loves it when he is on the receiving end of these expressions of affection.
"Once upon a time it was firm handshake, then the man hug now it is not unusual for mates to give me a kiss on the cheek," Fordham said.
"I would say I have six or seven mates of mine who greet me with a kiss."

Just who those mates may be is anybody's guess but Fordham is known to rub shoulders with many famous faces through his media career which has included TV and 'Ben Fordham Live' on 2GB.
When Horton asked Fordham how he would feel if someone said 'Hey gurlfriend!' as a way to greet him he said he'd be perfectly okay with this, pointing out that Horton will say 'Hey guys' when arriving in the 9Honey office.
