Woman leaves negative Airbnb review on wrong property

There's nothing worse than arriving for a stay at an Airbnb only to find it isn't what you expected.

What's even worse is when it's dirty or in a state of disrepair, as one woman recently discovered when she arrived at what she thought was her Airbnb apartment.

The property was visibly dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned for quite some time.

She contacted her Airbnb host to complain, saying the apartment was an "absolute mess" and she wouldn't be able to "sleep comfortably" in it.

"We just arrived at the Airbnb and the place is an absolute mess," she explained.

"There's hair and dust all over the floors, dirt in the bed, stains on the pillow and the fridge is disgusting... I cannot sleep comfortably here."

The confused host asked for photos to show to their cleaner, who they thought had done a thorough job of tidying up between guests. So they took several photos showing the mess including in the kitchen, bedroom, living area and bathroom.

It was then the host realised their guest was in the wrong apartment.

"Oh my god," @paigeunavailable wrote to her Airbnb host in a message on the app. "I am SO SO sorry."

The woman has shared a TikTok video explaining the mix up including her message exchanges with her Airbnb host.

"I would have noticed right away that I was in the wrong unit just by pictures and the color of the refrigerator," one person commented.

"I'd be tempted to clean this person's apartment," said another.

"I'm too nice and wouldn't have said anything," added another fellow traveller.

Another joked: "The way you just roasted and exposed some single dude's apartment."

"It's giving me the vibe that it's a single [dude's] house and he is out walking his dog," added another.

One person observed: "Imagine seeing your place on the news [being] blasted for its filth?!"

Others wondered how the woman had been able to access the wrong apartment in the first place.

"The real issue is how you were able to access the wrong apartment," one commented.

"I can't stop laughing this is SO funny. I love how the one you 'broke into' is generic enough to not clue you in," added another.
