A 72-year-old grandmother receives handbag she's 'been wanting for 20 years'

A 72-year-old grandmother has gone viral on social media for her reaction to a present she received.

In a video posted by her granddaughter, Zahriaa Lavettee, the woman can't contain her excitement as she opens up a gift she's been wanting for 20 years.

"My granny turned 72 years old yesterday," Zahriaa said in her Twitter post. "Enjoy her opening the purse shes been wanting for 20 years."

Letting out a scream as she opens up the box in the video, the grandmother elatedly shouts, "I knew it!"

Continuing to jump up and down, the grandmother sends her family who are watching on into hysterics with her excitement.

Eventually she sits down on a chair putting her entire head inside the bag, presumably from sheer excitement.

After being posted yesterday, the video has gone viral and currently has over 3.6 million views, 80k retweets and over 460k likes.

In some follow-up Twitter posts, Zahriaa clarified the bag was a $400 bag she's been wanting for years, but had "never mentioned it" until another family member bought it recently.

In the spirit of Christmas, many shared the video across social media branding the moment "so pure" and "beautiful".

Even Grammy Award winner Missy Elliott stumbled across the video, calling the grandmother's reaction to the gift "adorable".

The brand of the bag, Brahmin, also ended up re-posting Zahriaa's video.

It's definitely a video that will warm hearts around the world this festive season.
