'All this for $9': Simple switch saves shopper over 50 per cent on fruit and veg haul
A savvy shopper has shared their fruit and vegetable haul from their local market.
The Victoria local reports paying just $9 for a kilo of carrots, two heads of broccoli, a sweet potato, a butternut pumpkin, three ears of corn, two cucumbers, eight mandarins and 500 grams of green beans.
"I love the markets. All this for $9. [VIC]," they wrote on the 'Aussie Frugal' thread on Reddit.
It seems the markets may be even cheaper than Aldi these days, with one commenter sharing, "I spent $10 at Aldi on 2 small potatoes, 1 onion and 500g of chicken. Still so confused over it."

"You did well," another Redditer said.
"It helps that it's a Sunday and they want to move as much stock as possible today," one person suggested.

Coles was the most expensive during this comparison at $23.71 and Woolworths came in at $20.69.
It seems it pays to visit your local market on a Sunday at closing time for consistent savings on fruits and vegetables.
