Bizarre 'long bread' spotted on Woolworths shelves
A bizarre Woolworths item has stunned Reddit users.
A Brisbane shopper took to Reddit after they spotted the unusual way their local Woolies bakery had sliced a loaf of sourdough bread.
Whilst bread is usually sliced crosswise, this particular loaf had been sliced lengthwise.

"New innovation coming to a Woolworths near you – loooooong sliced bread," the customer wrote.
Unexpectedly, a number of users underneath the post rejoiced at the bizarre bread.
"Legit would buy this. Garlic bread, picnic sandwiches, so great," one Reddit user wrote.
"Some might say this is the best thing since sliced bread!" another joked.

"I love this bread so much HAHA it is perfect for salmon and cream cheese open face sammiches!!!" a third added.
Another commenter who supposedly has worked at the bakery in the past has said that you can ask Woolworths staff to slice a loaf of bread lengthwise
Alternatively, another user who claimed that they used to work at a local bakery said that whilst in theory, lengthwise cut bread only has four or five 'good slices' whilst the rest are uneven.

The customer expressed their shock at the size of a slice of store-brand bread, Reddit
Meanwhile at Coles, one customer was left reeling after a slice of bread from the supermarket giant looked more like the size of a cracker in the Redditor's hand.
"Woke up with massive hands… or Coles bakery bread is shrinking," they asked on Reddit's 'Aussie Casual' thread.
The customer uploaded a picture of the teeny tiny bread in comparison to their hand as well as a biscuit for comparison.

The Redditor compared the size of the bread slices to that of a biscuit. Reddit
"As a baker this is what I was gonna say. Definitely looks like odd proportions," one Redditer commented under the post.
Other users pondered whether the loaf was gluten-free, which generally are smaller in size.
"Yes, things getting smaller but staying the same or going up in price," one Redditor added, referring to rampant shrinkflation.
