Woke up with massive hands… or Coles bakery bread is shrinking?
A Coles customer has been left confused after a recent trip to the supermarket, questioning the size of the store-brand bread.
"Woke up with massive hands… or Coles bakery bread is shrinking," they asked on Reddit's 'Aussie Casual' thread.
In a photo shared to the thread we see the customer compare a slice of the bread with the size of their hand, and then a biscuit.

Their curiosity piqued, they then compare a slice of the bread with a biscuit and the bread is barely bigger than the common snack.

"As a baker this is what I was gonna say. Definitely looks like odd proportions," one Redditer commented.
Another suggested it is the gluten-free loaves that are more likely to be reduced in size.
"The gluten-free loaves are the size of biscuits for unknown reasons," they said.
Another suggested finding a "local bakery" and avoiding supermarket in-house loaves all together.
"Yes, things getting smaller but staying the same or going up in price," one Redditer added.
The practice of food products reducing in size but staying the same price is known as "shrinkflation."
Products that have been accused of becoming victims of shrinkflation of late include Campbell's tinned soup, M'Ms, Nutri-Grain and Weet-Bix.

"Was it just an overnight thing or have they been slowly growing for years?" one Reddier asked.
Another spoke about recent price increases to both Coles and Woolworths loaves, claiming they have gone up by as much as 20 percent.
A baker explained the cost of flour has risen by 17 percent recently which may account for both the shrinkage and prince increases.
Coles Communications Manager Therese Allaoui tells 9Honey their in-store bakery loaves haven't reduced in size and continue to be competitive in price.
"The Coles in-store bakery bread has not reduced in size. Customers can find great value in our bakeries, with Coles loaves starting at $2.50."
