'Risky' twist on cult favourite treat pays off as best Woolworths Christmas dessert revealed: 'Unbelievable'
It's already risky business when you try to put a twist on one cult classic, so doing two at once seems like pure absurdity.
Woolworths, however, obviously did not get that memo – or, perhaps, they did, and just didn't care.
That much became clear when the grocery giant unveiled this year's Christmas menu, with one 1.4kg item in particular raising eyebrows.

Yes, we're talking about the Biscoff Trifle.
At $35 a pop, the ready-to-eat dessert makes promises that seem almost too good to be true.
No preparation required except taking the lid off? Tick. Beloved Biscoff biscuits and spread layered all throughout? Tick Tick. Biscoff-flavoured custard and vanilla sponge that make regular trifles seem like child's play? Tick Tick Tick.
Of course, we at 9honey Kitchen had to do the valuable public service of trying this treat to determine for ourselves if it does both Biscoff and trifle justice.
The verdict? It's a more than welcome addition to our Christmas dessert menu.
In fact, it's so welcome that no other dessert from Woolworths' Christmas range came close.

"Unbelievable texture, gorgeous taste, would go well with a dollop of cream," one taste tester said, noting that it's a "bit heavy" but with ice cream or cream, it would be "perfect".
"Very sweet – in a good way," another taste tester commented.
In more good news for the budget-conscious, one taste tester had this pearl of wisdom: "A little goes a long way, more than a few mouthfuls is a bit much – ideal for sharing".
Coming in second was the Indulgent Mini Salted Caramel Tarts, which, at $8 per six pack, were a pleasing inclusion in the dessert menu considering ALDI has discontinued their coveted salted caramel tarts this year.
Third was the Baileys Flavoured Pavlovas ($8 for a four pack), with the Festive Lamington Selection ($16 for an eight pack) coming in fourth, proving once again that twists on Aussie-favourite treats are all the rage this year.
That became apparent when our taste testers ranked the classic Gold Fruit Mince Pies with Apple Brandy ($10 for a six pack) last, noting how they just could not compare to the excitement the avant-garde treats deliver.
