Woman's shock at discovering live frog in supermarket salad

It's not unusual to come across the odd garden critter in a packet of supermarket-bought mixed greens, but one woman couldn't hide her shock after discovering a live frog in hers.

Wisconsin-based Karlie Allen shared a video to Twitter of the poor trapped amphibian, who was discovered as she prepared dinner with her family.

"Bon appetit! nothin like salad with a side of live frog @SimpleTruth4U," Allen captions the video.

In the clip, between squeals she can be heard exclaiming: "Oh my God, it's literally alive!" as the frog squirms against the plastic container.

The salad was by US organic label Simple Truth.

While many Twitter users have expressed their disgust over the slimy intruder, others have rightly pointed out that the frog's presence is probably a solid barometre for healthy, organic produce — and also, why is everyone so freaked out by a little frog, anyway?
