The margherita pizza is less of a choice and more of a lifestyle.

The kind of person who orders a margherita knows what they like and they're not particularly interested in trying anything else.

And for good reason, a margherita is hard to beat.

It's the perfect combination of mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil, and sometimes if you're lucky you'll get some fresh tomato sprinkled on top.

Basically, what we're saying is that you can't go wrong with a margherita pizza.

But even though you can't go wrong, there is always the opportunity for things to go so much better than you'd ever imagined.

That's what we're all about here at 9Honey Kitchen, we want to help you create that moment where you can't even take a second bite of your pizza because your jaw is on the floor simply because of how delectable it is.

So we've conducted a very official taste test to once and for all rank the best margherita pizza.

For reasons that include the fact that we unfortunately do have a limited supply of time, we weren't able to tour the country and try every margherita on offer.

So, we came up with a way to conduct our taste test so that the largest possible percentage of our readers could reap its benefits.

We've stuck to the three holy grail pizza chains available throughout the country, Crust, Pizza Hut and Domino's.

We ordered a standard margherita pizza from the store closest to our office in North Sydney and had our team blind taste each one to see which they preferred – brand loyalty aside.

Just three months ago, we conducted a similar scientific experiment.

We wanted to see which of the big three pizza chains was the best value for money, and interestingly enough the ranking of best tasting pizza is the exact same as the best value pizza.

So it seems there's no need to compromise taste for money.

Let's get into it shall we.

Coming in at nine inches diameter for $14.95, Pizza Hut fell into our third place position.

Now that's not to say a Pizza Hut margherita isn't delicious, just not as delicious as the other two.

Which leaves us with Crust and Domino's.

When you think pizza chain, you think of the name Domino's, its a doughy delight icon.

However, from now on when you hear the more specific term 'margherita pizza', we suggest you think of Crust.

That's right folks, Domino's has come in second place with 10 inches for $18.95.

Which means Crust has won the title of the best margherita pizza in our very official 9Honey taste test.

Crust provided us with 11 inches of cheesy perfection, all for the very reasonable price of just $15.
