The internet is no stranger to a viral food trend thanks to TikTok.
We've seen Emily Mariko's salmon bowl, ice cream inside fruit roll ups, and of course, everyone's favourite feta pasta.
But the newest meal taking over TikTok seems to be much more divisive, with some foodies desperate to give it a go, while others claim they simply couldn't imagine anything worse.
Let us introduce you to the pickle sandwich.

Now, pickles on a sandwich is obviously no groundbreaking revelation, and while you could be forgiven for assuming that's what the pickle sandwich entails, you'd also be incorrect.
The pickle sandwich took over TikTok thanks to Gabby Palmigiano, who goes by gabbyparmesan on the platform.
Palmigiano first posted a video of her trying the pickle sandwich from Seven brothers Gourmet in Long Island, and has since dedicated her account to not only trying the pickle sandwich, but a variety of pickle-centric delicacies.
Her original video now has 4.4 million views and over 500,000 likes.

And if you're still confused about what exactly a pickle sandwich is, let us explain.
Basically, what the Long Island deli has done is take a giant pickle, slice it in half length-ways, and scooped out the middle. The pickle is a substitute for the bread.
Inside the two slices of pickle can be a variety of fillings, but this particular pickle sandwich features turkey, provolone cheese, lettuce and bacon.
"That is so good," Palmigiano said after taking her first bite. "If you love pickles this is perfect. This is seriously the best thing ever."

But Palmigiano isn't the only fan of the divisive menu option.
While she may be responsible for the recent trend taking over social media, Seven Brothers Gourmet have actually had the item on the menu since January.
According to Delicious, it even got so popular that the sandwich now has it's very own line dedicated to customers looking to order it, as to not disturb customers looking for something with a little more bread.
