Viral KFC ordering hack shows how to score a half-price bucket

A KFC ordering hack has been doing the rounds, claiming that the way that you order can result in getting more than $60 worth of chicken for half the price.

Some unverified screenshots demonstrating the hack have also be circulating the internet, so naturally 9Honey put the hack to the test — and found the results to be even better than we'd hoped.

The hack claims that ordering 21 individual pieces of Original Recipe chicken will cost upwards of $60 — when we tried on the KFC Australia app, it came to $61.95.

However, by ordering the 21 pieces in different Original Recipe chicken bundles — specifically, splitting into 12 pieces, 6 pieces and 1 piece — the viral hack claims you can cut your costs by more than half.

When we tried, the total came plunged to just $26.85 — that's a discount of around 56 per cent, and a saving of $35.

Basically, the ordering system works in favour of customers who buy in bulk, so selecting the largest bundles of chicken you can when customising your bucket will get you the most cost-effective price.

As media outlets spread the word, a number of Facebook critics have been sharing their thoughts on the hack, with some admitting they've known about the trick for a while.

"There are so many deals/tricks like this on the app. Been doing it for years!" one Facebook commentator wrote.

Others were quick to work out some other lucrative bundles you could try.

"Or 26 if you just added 12 and 9 together and treat yaself to some nuggs", one critic suggested.

"Even better - 12 pieces + 9 pieces + 3 wicked wings. Same price $29.85 but you get the 3 wicked wings on top", another weighed in.
