'What's the special occasion?': American man baffled by wife's reaction to 'posh' dessert
One woman's unexpected reaction to a much-loved and low-cost dessert staple has left her expat husband bewildered.
The man, known on social media as user yankeedoodleintheuk, regularly shares his experiences in the UK as a foreigner, and shared his surprise at her reaction to the "posh" dessert he pulled out of the freezer.
In a video posted to Instagram, he admitted he'd been completely unaware of what a "big deal" the dessert was in Britain – but every Aussie will feel the same way about it.

"I didn't realise this one thing was posh," he said.
The dessert in question? The humble Viennetta ice cream
"Last night we had our spaghetti bolognese, and we're ready for our pudding, so I went into the kitchen, dug into the freezer, and pulled something out. And my wife said: 'What's the special occasion?' I was like: 'Special occasion? What do you mean?"

"Prior to this I went to Tesco and I found this pudding. It was about £1.50 I believe. I've had it before, it's delicious," he added.
The woman was surprised that her husband had just pulled it out for no reason.
"I never knew it was considered posh. Now I need your opinion if you consider this posh."
Launched by British ice cream brand Wall's in 1982, the Viennetta hit Aussie shelves later that decade under the Streets brand name.
The rectangular ice cream cake proved a smash hit over the years, boasting a distinctive wavy, concertina-like design.
Despite the modest price tag attached, its elaborate appearance gives it the impression of being an up-market option.

According to the unsuspecting expat, his wife revealed that she'd grown up only having the dessert on "very special occasions."
"And I can sort of see where she's coming from. It does look slightly posh. It's cool," he added.
And the content creator certainly got his just desserts when he opened the floor for his British followers to weigh in.
Almost every Brit in the comments section sided with Yankee Doodle's wife in this debate, revealing that the dessert was in fact considered a "posh" option throughout the UK.
"What's next? Colin the Caterpillar when it isn't someone's birthday?" One scandalised commenter demanded.
"You can't just whip out a Viennetta on a random Wednesday! Party times only!" another scolded.
A third remarked, "Jesus, a Viennetta? Was it your wedding anniversary Johnny Big Bollocks?"
Many Aussies will also agree that the Viennetta was only pulled out for special occasions, and still holds the highly coveted spot in the freezer as a fancy dessert.
