Today hosts fired up about America's claim to sausage roll

Something has our Today Extra hosts utterly miffed, and they're not alone.
Brits and Aussies took to Twitter in droves this week to express their irritation over US supermarket chain Trader Joe's controversial new foodie invention – the 'Puff Dog'.
Only this "invention", made up of a beef sausage cloaked in a flaky puff pastry, is quite clearly a sausage roll – a dish which has been enjoyed in Australia and the United Kingdom for more than a century.
"Now apparently they've come up with a genius new invention that they are calling the 'puff dog'", Sonia Kruger reveals, in her most sarcastic voice. Check out the divisive dish in question in the Today Extra segment above, and decide for yourself whether the resemblance is worthy of the uproar.
The pastry item was launched this month and trumpeted as a "marriage of beef and buttery" and "pretty genius". Twitter had other descriptions for it.
During the segment, co-host David Campbell drops a truth bomb: "I think this is an act of war."
Interestingly, his claim might not be too far off the mark. While the puff dog has incited the wrath of a couple of Commonwealth nations, America hasn't taken these 'thief' accusations sitting down, with some US Twitter users none too happy about being labelled rip-offs.
