Peeling potatoes is the worst part of any dinner preparation.

As Christmas approaches, potato-peeling is the number one kitchen sport that parents and hosts will be forced to wrangle with on December 25.

But one TikTok star and chef has a simple solution. US woman Nicole Jacques shared her "amazing, time-saving" hack on the app for peeling potatoes.

Jacques posted her tip in a video online, which shows her boiling a brown potato.

"Did you know this tip?" she asked her followers. "If you didn't, I'm about to blow your mind."

Instead of peeling the potato before boiling, Jacques made an incision on the vegetable all around the middle.

Then, she boiled the potato until it was soft. Once it had cooled down, Jacques then suggested you "take your fingers, put them on each side and pull".

In the video, the TikTok chef demonstrates how the skin easily and quickly slid off the boiled potato.

"It's the most amazing, time-saving hack I've found in a long time, and I had to share it with you," Jacques narrated her clip.

She added in the caption: "Did you know this one? SAVE IT RIGHT NOW to use during holiday meal prep time."

Jacques' video has since racked up a staggering 1.4 million views, with hundreds of impressed comments.

Some people claimed they had never thought of this "hack" and vowed to try it.

"I was dreading peeling potatoes on Thursday… thank you," one person wrote. "Yes! I can't wait to do this," another added.

Some curious commenters, however, pointed out the potato would still be red-hot when you take it off the boil.

"My aunt taught me this many years ago. It works but I put mine in a flash ice bath first so I don't burn my fingers!" another added.

"Great idea, but more impressed with your burnt-off fingers," one joked.

Earlier this year, another TikTok chef went viral with his own tip for peeling potatoes at lightning-speed.

TikToker Sonny Hurrell, who has 15 years of experience in professional kitchens and goes by @thatdudecancook, showcased his favourite peeling method, which involves stabbing the spud with a fork for better grip.

In his video, Hurrell showed how he sticks his fork into the top of the potato, peels the middle, then flips it up to peel the bottom.

To finish off the technique, he then removes the fork and simply peels the top of the potato.
