Sydney chef's homemade waffles prove breakfast is even better for dinner

Katherine Scott

There's something alluringly anarchic about the breakfast dinner.

For US-born chef and owner of Sydney's Hartsyard Gregory Llewellyn, no breakfast dinner comes close to his dad's famous homemade waffles, served with Canadian maple bacon.

As part of a Facebook video series produced by the Hartsyard team, the accomplished chef pays tribute to the childhood treat with his own tasty version, as featured in the mouth-watering video tutorial above.

Llewellyn admits he has even prepared and milled the corn flour himself in the Hartsyard kitchen (feel free to skip this step and use regular, store-bought corn meal). Milling aside, as with all good breakfast dinners all rules are out the window and simplicity is key — the entire dish is table-ready in under 10 minutes.

After watching the clip, we think you'll agree with Llewellyn when he says breakfast makes the perfect dinner.
